Job summary

Karman Space and Defense is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to develop, test, and deploy aerospace and defense mechanical systems. You will translate concepts into proof-of-concept hardware, support prototype fabrication and testing, and contribute to full-scale system development for critical military technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years aerospace/defense experience typical.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
• Basic understanding of data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
• Basic understanding of SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Knowledge of military and commercial specifications.
• DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Supports project planning and execution for mechanical system development.
• Assists in meeting client objectives on schedule, within budget and quality standards.
• Supports test planning and execution including procedure design, data collection and reporting.
• Contributes to business development and project performance activities.
• Collaborates with staff on proposal development and ongoing project execution.
• Engages in hands-on engineering work in aerospace and defense systems.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $110,000.00 Annually

In this role, you will support the development, testing, and deployment of aerospace and defense mechanical systems across all phases of program execution. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will help translate concepts into proof-of-concept hardware, support prototype fabrication and testing, and contribute to full-scale system development that advances critical military and aerospace technologies.

Responsibilities

• Supports project planning and execution for mechanical system development.
• Assists in completing client objectives on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with required quality standards.
• Supports test planning and execution including procedure development, test design and analysis, data collection, and report generation.
• Contributes to business development and project performance activities to support customer needs.
• Collaborates with technical staff on proposal development and ongoing project execution.
• Engages in hands-on engineering work in a fast-paced environment focused on aerospace and defense system development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience and registration.
• Typically 0 to 3 years of aerospace and/or defense experience.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
• Basic understanding of data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
• Basic understanding of SolidWorks and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Knowledge of military and commercial specifications.
• A current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
