Job summary

The Development Coordinator at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) provides essential support to the Development/Major Gifts team. You will manage donor relations, coordinate events, and assist with fundraising campaigns while maintaining accurate donor records in the CRM system.

Under the Executive Director's direction, you will help prepare reports, draft communications, and research prospective donors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ development or fundraising experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential donor information.
  • Experience with CRM is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support fundraising activities and donor events under the Executive Director.
  • Assist with reports and leadership briefings.
  • Manage scheduling, communications, and donor records in CRM.
  • Support event logistics and guest list management.
  • Research potential donors and prepare fundraising materials.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

About the Department

The Advancement Office at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) plays a vital role in supporting the school's mission to educate and empower the world's most influential artists, designers and scholars. Advancement partners strategically with the internal and external stakeholders to build enduring relationships, secure philanthropic support and steward resources that enhance the students experience, fuel academic excellence and strengthen SAIC's impact locally and globally.

The team leads a broad range of activities including fundraising, major and planned giving, advancement services and operations, alumni engagement and donor relations. By leveraging best-in-class systems, data insights and creative engagement strategies. Advancement ensures that SAIC can continue to provide world-class resources from faculty support and scholarship funding to state-of-the-art facilities and innovative programs. Collaborations across departments, thoughtful stewardship and a commitment to community and creative are at the heart of the office's work.

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the Development/Major Gifts team by managing and coordinating all activities related to donor relations, donor events, fundraising campaigns, and other initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Under direction of the Executive Director, supports the execution of fundraising activities and cultivation events, including managing project timelines, assisting with donor outreach, and other related materials.
  • Assists with preparing reports and briefings for leadership.
  • Performs administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, drafting communications for gift officers, and maintaining files and donor records in CRM.
  • Supports the administrative aspects of events, including formatting and reviewing guest lists for accuracy, assisting with registrations/invitations, and other event logistics.
  • Provides support to the team in the research and identification of potential donors.
  • Prepares and distributes fundraising materials.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Fine Arts preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a development or fundraising role that includes supporting giving initiatives and solicitations, including database management, donor communications, and fundraising events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle donor interest and personal information with tact and sensitivity, in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to multitask while handling work expectations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a CRM is preferred.

  • Hiring Range:$22.00 - $26.47 per hour

The expected hiring range is an estimated amount for positions based on the grade. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
