Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a CNC Programmer to work with machinists, engineers, and management to develop and optimize aerospace machining processes for tight tolerances in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires NX CAM programming, PLM tooling experience, and familiarity with mill-turn and Okuma centers, in a high-precision aerospace context at our Redmond site.

Qualifications

• 4 years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience.

• Use CAD/CAM software to program multi-axis milling machines to machine complex metallic structures and components
• Translate engineering drawings into reliable R&D and production machining processes
• Provide feedback to engineering teams to improve DFMA
• Design, program and machine test fixtures

• Experience with a variety of materials (aluminum, stainless steels, titanium and nickel based alloys)

Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The CNC Programmer will work closely with machinists, engineers and machining shop management to outline, develop and optimize new machining and manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in programming and machining tight tolerance aerospace components. The desired candidate will have experience in a fast paced machining environment and will have the ability to respond quickly to interruptions and requests to support test teams.

About the team

Our small team possesses diverse expertise and collaborates directly with Leo’s engineering teams. We produce components for both testing and satellite production. Our team’s core mission is to eliminate bottlenecks in testing and manufacturing processes. We fill crucial gaps by creating parts that are beyond the scope of our regular vendors. Through active knowledge and skill sharing within our team, we efficiently meet these challenges and support Kuiper’s engineering goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 4 years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years of Siemens NX CAM programming experience
• 2 years of experience using PLM software
• 2 years of NX modeling experience
• experience programming mill-turn machining centers
• experience programming Okuma machining centers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
