Job summary

San Francisco Community Land Trust is seeking a Development Associate to support fundraising, communications, membership, and community engagement. This role acts as the operational backbone of the Development team, ensuring donor stewardship, gift processing, events, volunteer engagement, and communications run smoothly and effectively.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, donor relations, communications, project coordination, or related administrative roles.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and familiarity with Canva, Zoom, project management software, and fundraising databases.
  • Experience working with communities impacted by gentrification, displacement, or housing inequity is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the donor database (Bloomerang), process gifts and acknowledgments, reconcile donations, prepare reports, and ensure donor records are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, donor receptions, community gatherings, and campaigns, including invitations, vendor coordination, event materials, and attendee management.
  • Manage membership renewals and communications, respond to member inquiries, coordinate volunteer recruitment and onboarding, and maintain volunteer records and recognition activities.
  • Support fundraising plans, campaign timelines, grant tracking, and project management systems to ensure deadlines are met and development initiatives stay on track.
  • Help manage newsletters, website updates, social media, presentations, donor materials, and other communications that strengthen SFCLT's public presence and fundraising efforts.
  • Partner with finance, communications, programs, and leadership to gather information, coordinate projects, and support organization-wide fundraising initiatives.

ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO COMMUNITY LAND TRUST

The San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create permanently affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income people through community ownership of the land. Guided by the principles of anti-displacement and racial justice, SFCLT stabilizes neighborhoods and creates greater access to housing and homeownership opportunities with a focus on BIPOC communities previously excluded from access to wealth, and in particular, access to homeownership opportunities.

SFCLT currently owns and operates 16 permanently affordable properties throughout San Francisco, including Chinatown, the Mission, the Tenderloin, the Richmond, South of Market, and Russian Hill.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE ROLE

SFCLT is seeking a Development Associate to support the organization's fundraising, communications, membership, and community engagement efforts. This highly collaborative role serves as the operational backbone of the Development team, ensuring donor stewardship, gift processing, events, volunteer engagement, and communications run smoothly and effectively.

Working closely with the Policy & Development Director, the Development Associate helps strengthen relationships with donors, members, volunteers, funders, and community partners while maintaining the systems and processes that support SFCLT's fundraising success and long-term sustainability.

HOW YOU WILL SUPPORT THE WORK OF SFCLT
Development Operations & Donor Stewardship:

Maintain the donor database (Bloomerang), process gifts and acknowledgments, reconcile donations, prepare reports, and ensure donor records are accurate and up to date.

Fundraising Events & Campaigns:

Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, donor receptions, community gatherings, and campaigns, including invitations, vendor coordination, event materials, and attendee management.

Membership & Volunteer Engagement:
