Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Herndon, VA seeks a Systems Engineer to support the Strata program. You will be part of the Operations Team ensuring GVS systems meet contractual requirements, providing maintenance, security patching, and responsive customer support.

The role requires experience with Linux, security-minded operations, and a current TS/SCI clearance. On-call duties outside standard hours may apply with access to the Herndon DEP II facility.

Qualifications

• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar distros.
• Prior Help Desk or technical customer service experience.
• Tier 2 troubleshooting experience.
• Current Active Top Secret clearance; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

• Perform systems maintenance such as security scans, software patching, and troubleshooting operational issues.
• Work with customers to solve issues and answer questions regarding GVS capabilities and services.
• Regular on-call support outside of 6 am–6 pm; must be able to physically access the Herndon facility.

This role will support the Strata program based out of Herndon, VA. The Systems Engineer will be a member of the Operations Team who support our enterprise system and services to ensure Strata systems operate well and customer needs are met.

• As part of the Operations team, you will collaborate with the customer, subcontractors, local engineers, and geographically dispersed teammates and customers to ensure GVS systems operate well according to contractual requirements
• Perform systems maintenance such as security scans, software patching, and troubleshooting operational issues
• Work with customers to solve issues and answer questions regarding GVS capabilities and services.

Performs tech planning, design, devel, integ, v&v for total syst life cycle. Analyses performed at all levels of syst product incl. concept, design, fabrication, test, instl, operation, maintenance & disposal, incorp design methods & stds for Cyber Security, SW & HW infrastructure. Designs, devels, docs, tests & debugs SW that contains logical & math solutions to business/mission problems/questions in computer language. Ensures the logical & syst conversion of customer/product reqs into total syst solutions that ack tech, sched, cost constraints & align to SW & HW deployment pipelines & factories. Performs func & timeline analysis, detail trade & reqs allocation & interface defs studies to translate customer reqs into HW & SW feature defs & acceptance criteria. Applies stds, processes, procedures & tools throughout the devel life cycle. Applies HW & SW knowledge, cyber security stds in business/mission apps, & feedback from users to develop SW. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles doc of program devel & analyzes syst capabilities to resolve program problems, output/input data acq, programming tech & controls. Ensures SW stds are met. Validates incorp of features & use cases into implemented designs

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar distros
• Prior Help Desk or technical customer service experience
• Tier 2 troubleshooting experience
• Security+ Certification (or equivalent DoD 8140 certification) required prior to start date
• Current Active Top Secret required to start. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI

Desired Skills

• AWS Experience- Basic scripting experience
• Experience with Zabbix, Matomo, or OpenSearch
• Experience with Geospatial visualization applications or GIS technologies (Google Earth, ArcGIS, OpenLayers, Cesium)
• Experience with the SAFe Agile Processes and Agile Programs/Projects
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
