Role Overview:

The Clinical Supervisor for the Detroit Outpatient Clinic is a dynamic leadership role responsible for overseeing clinical operations, supervising staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services. This position involves guiding a multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based practices, supporting professional development, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes positive client outcomes. The Clinical Supervisor will maintain compliance with organizational policies, Medicaid, MDHHS, and other regulatory requirements while championing ethical and culturally competent care.

Key responsibilities include case review, staff training, quality assurance, program coordination, and addressing high-risk situations. This role also requires engagement with diverse populations, including individuals with chronic mental illnesses, substance use disorders, geriatric clients, and children/adolescents.

DUTIES:

Clinical Supervision:

• Assign and oversee staff caseloads, ensuring efficient and effective client management.
• Provide individual and group supervision, including supervision required for professional licensure.
• Conduct clinical case reviews focusing on competency, strengths, cultural relevance, and client outcomes.
• Monitor and support the clinic and team members to ensure that each individual and the site as a whole maintain at least a 60% productivity standard, providing guidance, resources, and actionable strategies to achieve and sustain these benchmarks.

Client Engagement & Case Management:

• Maintain a small caseload and engage clients and families in a welcoming and empathetic manner.
• Ensure compliance with case documentation standards, including Medicaid, MDHHS, and agency-specific policies.
• Maintain 60% productivity relative to assigned caseload.

Staff Development:

• Train staff in evidence-based practices and clinical techniques.
• Support staff with professional skill development and licensure preparation.
• Support staff in the development and delivery of group therapy curriculums tailored to client needs.
• Conduct and document performance appraisals and make recommendations for promotions, pay increases, or disciplinary actions.

Quality Assurance:

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical services through case reviews and record audits.
• Collaborate with the Quality Department to meet agency standards and address areas of improvement.
• Prepare and submit metric reports as directed by Quality and/or Director.
• Participate in County and funding source audits.

Program Coordination:

• Lead weekly clinical team meetings to review client assignments and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and presentation for organizational planning and reporting.

Compliance & Ethical Standards:

• Adhere to the ethical code of conduct of the professional organization, corporate compliance programs, and agency policies.
• Attend required meetings and participate in mandated trainings, including recipient rights, confidentiality, and cultural competency.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or equivalent degree in a field related to mental health from an accredited college or university.
• Current active registration to practice social work/counseling from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing is required. (LMSW,LLP,LPC)
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing within a Community Mental Health Organization; at least 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience required.
• Ability to provide reflective supervision, coaching, and support to a team of therapists, case managers and support staff to enhance clinical skills, professional development, and reflective practice.
• Comprehensive knowledge of treatment systems and community resources.
