The Healing Place is seeking a Detox Coordinator to work with the Detox Manager, ensuring clients gain access to support, psychoeducation, and crisis interventions. The role leads case management and coordination of care, supporting 24/7 detox services at The Healing Place of New Hanover County.

Responsibilities include assessments, treatment plan development, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and collaboration with families and community resources to support recovery and access to benefits

Qualifications

  • Licensed by the NC Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (LCAS/LCAS-A).
  • Master's Degree required in related field.
  • Knowledge of ASAM dimensions.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate Comprehensive Clinical Assessment within 72 hours.
  • Facilitate development, implementation, and revision of the treatment plan.
  • Assist the Detox Manager with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and reassessment of clients based on service plan goals.
  • Monitor signs of intoxication and withdrawal and ensure appropriate treatment.
  • Provide crisis interventions when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide psychoeducation per the treatment plan.
  • Maintain accurate service notes and documentation for interventions.
  • Participate in staff and treatment team meetings.
  • Bi-weekly supervision with Detox Manager.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating with the Detox Manager to ensure that clients have access to support, psychoeducation, and crisis interventions when needed. The Detox Coordinator will play a lead role in case management and coordination of care functions. Assist the Detox Manager in providing the uninterrupted 24hr/day service provided by the Detox Unit within The Healing Place of New Hanover County.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Initiate Comprehensive Clinical Assessment within 72 hours.
  • Facilitate the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the treatment plan
  • Assist the Detox Manager with behavioral and substance use disorder interventions
  • Provides ongoing assessment and reassessment of each client based on their service plan goals
  • Monitors signs and symptoms of alcohol and other drug intoxication and withdrawal as well as the appropriate treatment and monitoring of those conditions
  • Provide crisis interventions, when clinically appropriate
  • Provides psychoeducation as indicated in the person-centered treatment plan
  • Monitor and document the status of the client's progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions outlined in the service plan
  • Provide substance use, health, and community services education
  • Assist with the development or relapse prevention and disease management strategies
  • Communicates the client's progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions to the Detox Manager as outlined in the service plan
  • Engage with and educate family members or individuals identified by the client as being important to their care and recovery in the withdrawal management process, as appropriate
  • Inform clients about benefits, community resources, and services
  • Provide appropriate linkage and referrals for recovery services and supports
  • Advocate for and assist the clients in accessing benefits and services
  • Maintain accurate service notes and documentation for all interventions provided
  • Participate in staff meetings and treatment team meetings
  • Bi-weekly supervision with Detox Manager
  • Ensure that facility, programs, staff clients and visitors meet safety standards
  • Supports Detox Manager in completing prior authorizations including preparation and review of clinical documentation to support necessity and level of care determination.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Must be Licensed by the NC Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board, LCAS or LCAS-A.
  • Master's Degree in related field required
  • Knowledge of ASAM dimensions
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Must be able to spend extended periods of time on your feet (walking, standing)
  • Ability to project a professional image
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. on occasion
  • Valid Driver's License required

Salary: $60000 - $65000 per year
