New Hanover County Sheriff's Office is seeking full-time Detention Officers to ensure the safety, security and detention of inmates at the county Detention Facility. Responsibilities include processing inmates, patrolling, inspections, visits, meals, transport, and records.

Starting pay is $23.07 per hour ($50,401.05 annually) with a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Federal/state benefits, rotating shifts, and extensive qualifications are offered. Must be US citizen with a GED or high school diploma.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 20 years of age and a US citizen.
• Must be available to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, extended hours and during emergencies.
• Candidates must pass written exam, physical abilities test, interview, background check, polygraph, psych eval and medical exam.

Responsabilidades

• Process inmates into custody and complete necessary paperwork.
• Patrol jail areas to maintain order and prevent escapes.
• Inspect inmates and cells for cleanliness and contraband.
• Escort inmates for visits, court appearances, and mail inspections.
• Provide meals to inmates and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
• Transport inmates to court and hospitals.
• Prepare records and reports on inmates.
• Perform duties during emergencies or disasters.
