Job summary

Cameron County is seeking a Detention Officer to join our jail operations in Texas. The role requires you to work twelve-hour shifts and uphold the County's policies; a TCOLE Jailer Certification is required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

English language fluency and a valid Texas Driver's License are mandatory. Applicants should be high school graduates (or GED) and must have no felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must have or obtain TCOLE Jailer Certification within 12 months of employment.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English clearly and precisely; no felony court convictions or certain misdemeanors.

Responsibilities

• Report inmate incidents to shift sergeant, lieutenant, Jail Administrator, Chief Deputy or Sheriff.
• Maintain daily shift activity log for the assigned area.
• Adhere to Cameron County Jailer's Policy Plan and report mechanical failures in cell area.
