Responsibilities include head counts, monitoring inmate behavior, escorting inmates to medical facilities and court, inmate management, searches, reporting, and following directions from the Warden or Sheriff.

• Perform regular head counts of inmates within the facility.
• Monitor inmate behavior for unusual activity to ensure safety and security.
• Escort inmates to medical facilities, courts, and work details, or wherever they are needed, in a timely, secure manner.
• Assist with the management of inmates.
• Conduct inmate and cell searches.
• Monitor security on the inside and outside perimeter of the facility.
• Complete regular reports of the activities within the facility.
• Perform other tasks issued by the Warden or Sheriff.

Overview

Coahoma County Sheriff's Office Detention Officers are responsible for maintaining security and order within the Coahoma County Detention Facility, monitoring and supervising inmates to ensure their safety and compliance with facility rules and regulations, performing regular searches of inmates and their living areas to prevent contraband and maintain security, responding promptly to incidents, emergencies, and conflicts within the facility, ensuring the safety of both staff and inmates.
