Job summary

The Erie Police Department is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented Detective or experienced Police Officer for a designated Detective assignment in the Investigations unit. You will handle complex cases, collaborate with specialized units, and play a key role in the community.

This 3–7 year assignment provides deep investigative experience before returning to Patrol with enhanced expertise. Completion of the FTO program is required before formal assignment.

Qualifications

• Certified Police Officer or Detective.
• Completion of the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.
• Experience in investigations or patrol with strong operational knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Investigates crimes against persons and/or property.
• Collects, preserves and documents evidence; maintains chain of custody.
• Prepares case files and presents testimony in court; coordinates with prosecutors.
