Job summary

America's Auto Auction in Mt. Vernon, IA is seeking a Detailer to clean and prepare vehicles for auction. This role offers on‑the‑job training in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

You will transform dusty vehicles into auction‑ready units and learn industry cleaning skills. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 7:30am‑5:00pm, Wednesday 7:30am‑9:00pm (auction day). Prior detailing experience is a plus, but not required; HS diploma and valid driver’s license are needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment.
• Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to pass pre‑employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Washes and cleans the exterior, interior, and engine/motor areas of vehicles from financial institutions and automobile dealerships.
• Prepares vehicles to meet auction‑ready appearance and quality standards.
• Uses industry‑standard tools, equipment, and cleaning products (training provided).
• Works collaboratively with team members to ensure timely and consistent vehicle preparation.
• Follows safety procedures and company guidelines while performing detailing tasks.
• Helps maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience for Detailer

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to comply with all company policies and uphold standards for service quality.

Physical Requirements for Detailer

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
• Work is performed in an auto auction setting and may include exposure to temperature changes, all types of weather conditions, elevated noise levels, and occasional fumes or odors associated with vehicle exhaust.
• Position requires standing, bending, lifting, and physical activity throughout the workday.
