Job summary

Katy Steel is seeking a Rebar Detailer to interpret civil, structural, and architectural drawings and produce shop drawings and bar lists for reinforcing steel fabrication.

You will use CAD software (AutoCAD preferred) to create precise placement drawings, generate bar bending schedules, and coordinate with engineers and fabricators to resolve discrepancies and ensure standards compliance.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience as a rebar detailer.
• Degree or diploma in technical engineering, architecture, or building design.
• Skilled in CAD software (AutoCAD); familiarity with 2D/3D modeling tools.
• Ability to translate drawings into fabrication instructions.
• Strong understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and arithmetic for bar lengths.
• High accuracy in drawings and documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

The Rebar Detailer is responsible for interpreting civil, structural, and architectural drawings to produce shop drawings and bar lists for the fabrication and placement of reinforcing steel (rebar). This role plays a vital part in ensuring the correct dimensions, quantities, and placement of rebar for projects.

Role & Responsibilities

• Interpret civil, structural, and architectural blueprints and specifications.
• Create precise and complete rebar placement drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD preferred).
• Generate bar bending schedules and cut lists for fabrication.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve discrepancies or respond to RFIs.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (ACI, CRSI, ASTM) and customer specifications.
• Review and update shop drawings as needed to reflect design changes.
• Maintain accurate revision of histories, drawing logs, files and documentation.
• Manage assigned projects and timelines effectively.
• Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers regarding schedule expectations and updates.
• Perform other administrative tasks.

What we are looking for

• Degree or diploma in technical engineering, architecture, or building design;
• Skilled in CAD software (AutoCAD); familiarity with 2D/3D modeling tools;
