American Exchange Group in New York is seeking a talented Designer to lead and support the development of compelling, trend-driven Watch collections from concept through production. The role blends creative vision with technical production realities to deliver market-ready pieces.

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with strong technical skills, able to balance aesthetics with business needs and production capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Jewelry/Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of watch or accessory design experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating creative and technical design abilities.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and CAD rendering.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Development to design and execute innovative watch designs.
  • Prepare technical drawings for production.
  • Research seasonal trends and translate them into brand-appropriate collections.
  • Create quarterly trend guides and style plans.
  • Align design concepts with pricing and production capabilities.
  • Design according to plans and timelines; manage development calendar.
  • Photograph and organize catalog images for internal and client use.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Production and Sourcing to ensure design execution.
  • Update watch designs for each season in collaboration with the team.
  • Prepare recaps and presentations for internal and external meetings.
  • Maintain high creativity, precision, and multi-project management under deadlines.
  • Take on additional projects to support department goals.

Title: Designer, Watches

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Designer to join our team. This role will be responsible for leading and supporting the development of compelling, trend-driven Watch collections from concept through production. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with strong technical skills, able to balance aesthetic sensibility with business needs and production capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Development team to develop and execute innovative product designs that align with brand vision and market demand.
  • Oversee and assist in preparing technical drawings of proposed product to be used for production
  • Support research and development of seasonal trends and translate them into brand-appropriate watch collections.
  • Create quarterly trend guides and style plans that reflect current and emerging fashion directions.
  • Interpret design and style trends within pricing strategies and the production team’s technical capabilities.
  • Design according to style plans, sales needs and emerging trends; ensure timely execution of product development calendar
  • Photograph and organize catalog images from development through confirmation samples for internal and client use.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, and Sourcing teams to ensure design execution is aligned across departments.
  • Work with team on updating watch designs for each season
  • Generate recaps and presentations for internal sales meetings and external market appointments.
  • Maintain a high level of creativity, precision, and efficiency while managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed to support the department and broader company goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Jewelry/Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in jewelry/watch design or accessory design.
  • A portfolio showcasing creative and technical design abilities.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Canva, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with technical drawing, CAD rendering, and packaging design preferred.
  • Previous experience in the watch industry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Salary: The anticipated base salary is $65k - $70k annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, internal equity, and location.
