Job summary

Jockey is seeking a Designer, Men’s Innerwear to design innovative innerwear that aligns with brand vision and business goals. You will deliver trend-forward concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality finishes.

The role requires 5-7 years in apparel design, a design degree, and strong skills in Illustrator/Photoshop, with a focus on comfort, fit and fabric knowledge. Travel to different offices is possible, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of apparel design experience, preferably in men’s innerwear, with strong knowledge of fabrics and trims and a solid understanding of the design process.
  • Bachelor's degree in design or related field required.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, garment construction and fabric selection across knits, wovens, and bottoms.
  • Ability to interpret market trends, consumer preferences and forecasts to align with brand vision.
  • Create designs prioritizing comfort and fit while considering aesthetics and trends.
  • Attention to detail including trims, finishes and stitching for quality.
  • Strong knowledge of fabric/materials and textile manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of technical execution and specifications in apparel.
  • Effective communication with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate design execution.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills for multiple projects.
  • Ability to manage priorities and objectives; adaptability in a fast-paced fashion environment.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Illustrator and Photoshop; knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create innovative and trend-forward apparel by researching designs aligned with business goals, consumers, and brand DNA.
  • Work with merchandising to identify white space opportunities and develop accordingly.
  • Translate concepts into sketches, flats, and tech packs showing fit, silhouettes, construction, colors and patterns.
  • Understand and communicate color palette needs for men's categories.
  • Select fabrics, trims, elastics, and branding elements while focusing on quality, sustainability and cost.
  • Shop the market to provide design inspiration and trend reports to cross-functional teams.
  • Attend fittings and communicate necessary adjustments for proper fit and quality finishes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate design execution.
  • Set up initial proto tech packs and communicate seasonal designs to teams.
  • Work in PLM system with BOM responsibilities.
  • Provide direction and market analysis for merchandising colorways and graphics.
  • Manage and/or mentor Assistant/Associate Designers.
  • Create and maintain presentation documents, tools, and samples.
  • Ability to travel seasonally between offices as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Jockey is seeking a Designer, Men's Innerwear to join our Design team!

JOB SUMMARY

The Designer, Men’s Innerwear, will design and create innovative and trend-forward innerwear that aligns with the business goals, target consumers and brand vision. This role will continuously deliver and uphold the brand aesthetic while also evolving with industry needs and trends.

JOB EXPECTATIONS
  • Design and create innovative and trend-forward apparel by conducting research to create designs that resonate with the business goals, targeted consumers, and the brand's DNA.
  • Work closely with merchandising team to identify white space opportunity and develop accordingly.
  • Translate design concepts into sketches, technical detailed flat sketches and tech packs that accurately represent design elements such as fit type, silhouettes, construction details, colors, and patterns.
  • Understand and communicate color palette needs for the men's apparel categories.
  • Select and develop appropriate fabrics, trims, elastics, and branding elements while maintaining focus on quality, sustainability and cost.
  • Competitively shop the market in order to provide design inspiration and trend reports to cross-functional teams.
  • Attend fittings and effectively communicate necessary adjustments needed to ensure proper fit and quality finishes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, effectively communicate design intents and specifications, provide feedback, and ensure accurate design execution.
  • Set up initial proto tech packs and communicate new seasonal designs to cross-functional teams.
  • Work in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system throughout the design process with responsibility for Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Provide direction and market analysis for merchandising colorways, and graphics assortment.
  • Manage and/or mentor Assistant/Associate Designers.
  • Create and maintain presentation documents, tools, and samples.
  • Ability to travel between offices seasonally, as needed.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5-7 years of apparel design experience, preferably in men’s innerwear, with strong knowledge of fabrics and trims and a solid understanding of the design process.
  • Bachelor's degree in design or related field required.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, garment construction and fabric selection, across multiple categories, i.e., knits, wovens, bottoms.
  • Ability to interpret market trends, consumer preferences and fashion forecasts to create designs that align with current and future market needs and the brand's vision.
  • Ability to create designs that prioritize comfort and fit while also considering aesthetics and fashion trends.
  • Attention to detail, including trims, finishes and stitching, to ensure the quality and integrity of the final product.
  • Strong knowledge of fabric and materials, with the ability to select appropriate materials, understand textile manufacturing processes and garment construction techniques.
  • Strong understanding of technical execution and specifications in apparel, including specialized sewing or new techniques.
  • Effective communication skills with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate execution of designs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage priorities, goals and objectives.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing fashion industry.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
