Job summary

Austin Community College is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to lead the development of curricula and instructional materials across modalities. The role collaborates with faculty to define learning objectives, select strategies, and apply best practices in learning design and assessment.

The designer will manage projects from conception through implementation, create software-based modules, deliver faculty training on instructional technologies, and ensure accessibility standards

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple instructional projects.
  • Experience advising faculty on instructional design and learning objectives.
  • Ability to develop materials across print, digital, and multimedia formats.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and ADA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage instructional projects from conception through implementation.

  • Develop and maintain software-based learning modules for instructional use.
  • Design and deliver workshops and faculty training on instructional technologies and best practices.

Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Manages instructional projects and related collegewide strategic initiatives from conception through implementation.
  • Consults with faculty on instructional design, strategies, and learning objectives; makes recommendations on enhancing instructional materials and deliveries to ensure students have an opportunity to interact and apply learning outcomes as well as increase the success and retention of students; assists in the development of course materials, assessment techniques, appropriate integration of instructional technologies, and best practices.
  • Develops and maintains software-based learning modules for instructional or training purposes.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers workshops and training to faculty in the use of instructional technologies and educational best practices; provides ongoing faculty training and support in technology tools and educational applications.
  • Designs and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation, and multimedia to support teaching, learning, and college information needs.
  • Maintains database regarding instructional design projects as well as other related files and records.
  • Provides assistance to faculty in technology tools and methods, use of instructional software, and effective uses of multimedia.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies, and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning addressing copyright concerns and ADA compliance issues.
  • Facilitates curriculum development sessions, documents findings, and writes reports.
  • Conducts occupational analysis and develops job profiles working with business partners, internal subject matter experts, and other internal as well as external stakeholders.
  • Assures courses and projects meet accessibility standards.
  • Collaborates with others to measure effectiveness of course design and student learning.
  • May oversee peer review process.
