Job summary

B&C Fire Safety Inc in Fort Walton Beach, FL is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to develop complete sprinkler system designs and ensure drawings are code-compliant and ready for fabrication.

You will coordinate with architects, engineers, and field teams, review plans for NFPA 13 compliance, and produce finished drawings and hydraulic calculations for permit and construction releases.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of NFPA 13 standards and fire protection codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP drawings.
• Experience producing detailed fire sprinkler construction drawings.
• Ability to review fabrication and field drawings to produce As Built.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete fire sprinkler system designs for commercial, industrial, residential, and/or other applicable projects.
• Produce finished fire sprinkler drawings suitable for permit, construction, and project release.
• Prepare and maintain accurate sprinkler layouts, riser diagrams, details, hydraulic calculations, and related design documentation.
• Review project plans, architectural drawings, structural drawings, and MEP plans for coordination and constructability.
• Coordinate sprinkler layouts with other trades and resolve design conflicts.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA standards, building codes, fire codes, and project specifications.
• Review field/installation drawings to verify that the installation information accurately reflects the approved design.
• Identify and communicate design discrepancies, field conditions, and required revisions.
• Make necessary revisions to drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with project managers, estimators, fabrication personnel, field installers, and other members of the design team.
• Maintain organized project files and drawing revisions.
• Assist with design questions and provide technical support to fabrication and field personnel.

B&C Fire Safety specializes in all facets of fire protection products and services. Our clients are comprised of commercial, industrial, hospitality, military as well as numerous local, state, and federal government entities. Our life safety protection services include the design, installation, inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers, fire sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems and fire alarm systems. Our current territory spans the entire Florida Panhandle including Pensacola, Panama City, and Tallahassee.

We are seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our in-house design team. This position will be responsible for developing complete fire sprinkler system designs and ensuring drawings are accurate, code-compliant, coordinated, and ready for fabrication and installation.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with fire sprinkler design, understands NFPA requirements and applicable building codes, and can take a project from initial design through finished construction drawings.

• Ability to review and redline fabrication and field drawings to produce As Built.
• Strong understanding of sprinkler system components, piping, fittings, valves, hangers, and installation requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies before they reach fabrication or the field.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET II certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.
• Experience withAutoSprink fire sprinkler design software.
• Experience with hydraulic calculations and fire sprinkler system sizing.
• Experience working directly with fabrication and field installation teams.
• Familiarity with permitting and AHJ review processes.
