Job summary

Professional Engineering Consultants is seeking a Design Engineer to contribute to multiple projects, using BIM/CAD software and hand calculations to develop client solutions. The role requires collaboration with internal/external design disciplines and adherence to PEC standards and building codes.

The ideal candidate will perform design deliverables, coordinate with the team, and assist with construction administration tasks such as submittals and RFIs, while maintaining a strong work ethic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited program.
• Experience with CAD/BIM software and calculation tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering design and coordinates document production per codes and PEC standards.
• Reviews submittals, conducts site investigations, and responds to RFIs under supervision.
• Performs design and takeoff calculations by hand and with software.
• Organizes multiple projects to complete tasks on schedule and per PEC procedures.
• Maintains organized project information in accordance with corporate practices.
• Communicates effectively with the Design Team to complete tasks across projects.
• Other duties may be added at PEC discretion.

Job description

The Design Engineer will be responsible for design on multiple projects, working with other design disciplines internal and external to PEC to develop engineering solutions for PEC’s Clients. This position will be responsible for preparing design deliverables for a variety of projects while maintaining PEC’s standard of excellence. This position utilizes BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs engineering design, coordinates with other design staff for construction document and specification production in compliance with building codes, construction administration, and development of reports/studies
• Performs tasks during construction administration including review of submittals, site investigations, and RFI response under the direction of the Project Engineer
• Performs design and takeoff computations by hand and by computer software
• Organizes multiple projects and tasks and completes them in a timely manner, on schedule, and per PEC Standards
• Organize project information and files according to corporate standard practices and workflows
• Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Design Team to complete design tasks on numerous projects
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degreein an appropriate field of study from an ABET Accredited University is required

License and Certification:
