Job summary

Floor & Decor is hiring a Design Consultant at our Utica, MI store. You will greet customers, schedule design appointments, and provide expert advice on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.

You will manage multiple projects, maintain clear communication, and leverage design tools to deliver attractive solutions. The role emphasizes teamwork with store leadership and requires basic design knowledge, strong math skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year interior design or retail/sales experience.
• Design degree is a plus.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus.
• Proficient in basic math.
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge including MS Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and schedule design appointments.
• Advise on tile, wood, stone and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, aesthetically appealing solutions.

Base Pay

This role has a minimum base pay from $15.24 per hour with higher starting pay available based on experience.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Minimum of One (1) year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience


• Degree in Design is a plus


• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus


• Proficient in basic mathematical skills


• Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment


• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills


• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite


• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position

Essential Functions

• Greet store customers in a helpful manner and supports store design walk-in needs Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals, as well as leads generated within the store Providing tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects. Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness and follow-up including consistent and concise communication to customers and others. Proficient and consistent use of company communication tools and emails are required Collaborate, partner and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market Responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications i.e.; Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

Limited travel may be required by car While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.
