Job summary

Ethos Education Ltd is seeking a Design and Technology Teacher for a Southampton area secondary school. You will teach workshop-based D&T across KS3 and KS4, delivering GCSE D&T with a timbers and resistant materials focus, and maintain continuity by keeping classes for the year.

The role supports a department of six teachers and two technicians, with a focus on safe practical sessions and a strong risk-aware culture. Permanent contract, full- or part-time, starting January 2027.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent certification is required.
• Specialism in timbers, resistant materials, or product design.
• Ability to teach across D&T KS3/KS4.
• Strong workshop health and safety knowledge.
• Student-centered, reflective and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Teach workshop-based Design and Technology across KS3 and KS4.
• Deliver GCSE Design and Technology with a timbers/resistant materials focus.
• Teach KS3 workshop strand, maintaining class continuity.
• Lead safe, well-managed practical sessions using hand tools, machinery and CAD/CAM.
• Contribute to a department of six teachers and two technicians.
