Design Technician (All Levels of Experience) - Q3C CO - Gas Operations

Primoris Gas Operations, which includes companies such as Q3 Contracting, ARB, Primoris Distribution Services, Snelson, and Pipejacking Trenchless, has over 60 years of experience in the natural gas distribution industry. We are seeking qualified candidates for multiple Design positions at our Denver, CO location. We welcome applicants at all experience levels — entry-level (training provided), mid-career, and highly experienced designers.

The Utility Designer is responsible for creating new distribution and service designs for gas and electrical facilities, ensuring cost-effectiveness, compliance with regulations, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable, a strong problem solver, and skilled in time management to meet deadlines.

Position Expectations:
  • Act as the primary contact between customers, construction teams, and utility providers.
  • Design facilities for new and existing customers per construction standards.
  • Interpret various construction drawings to determine project scope.
  • Manage multiple projects from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate with engineers, customers, and support teams to meet deadlines.
  • Obtain necessary permits and easements in compliance with regulations.
  • Handle contracts and agreements per administrative and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate proactively with customers, vendors, and supervisors.
  • Provide cost estimates using standardized documentation.
  • Attend on-site meetings to assess site-specific requirements.
Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; degrees in related fields preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software.
  • Utility design experience preferred.
  • Experience with underground utilities and SAP platform preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
  • Valid Driver’s License for the primary work location.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing demands.
  • Confidentiality and bilingual skills are a plus.
