Job summary

GHD is seeking a Civil Designer to join our US Central team. You will generate construction drawings for industrial, maritime, coastal, municipal and environmental design projects, lead CAD work, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.

The role requires an associate degree in drafting and design (or relevant experience) and 5–10 years of civil design experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D. Strong survey understanding and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in drafting and design or relevant experience.
• Minimum 5-10 years of civil design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Revit, Recap, Edgewise experience a plus.
• Must have an understanding of survey fundamentals.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent time management and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed design drawings for grading and site development.
• Perform volume/quantity calculations for horizontal infrastructure, land development, offshore dredging and coastal restoration projects.
• Prepare detailed design drawings based on self-directed design and engineering mark-ups.
• Fulfill various fieldwork requirements, including site surveys and construction observations, if needed.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and process mechanical teams.
• Operate as a CAD manager on multidiscipline projects and maintain designer schedules.
• Mentor junior team members and assist in regional training activities.

Our US Central team is looking for a Civil Designer to join the team in Houston, TX! In this role, you will generate construction drawings for industrial, maritime and coastal, municipal, and environmental design projects. Working with an energetic and hard-working team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Prepare detailed design drawings for grading and site development, utility piping, process piping and chemical feed system layouts of moderate to advanced complexity, including developing alignments, profiles, cross sections and details
• Perform volume/quantity calculations as required for horizontal infrastructure projects, land development, offshore dredging, and coastal restoration projects
• Prepare detailed design drawings based on self-directed design and engineering mark-ups that adhere to related specifications while using basic knowledge of relevant design and drafting principles
• Fulfill various fieldwork requirements, including site surveys, asset condition assessment and construction observations, if needed
• Coordinate with various design teams including architectural, structural, electrical, and process mechanical
• Operate as a CAD manager on multidiscipline projects coordinating project set-up, chartering documents, and maintain designer team schedules
• Mentor junior team members and assist in the regional training activities

What you will bring to the team:

• Associate’s degree in drafting and design or relevant experience
• Minimum 5-10 years of civil design experience
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil3D
• Revit, Recap, Edgewise experience a plus
• Must have an understanding of survey fundamentals
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Excellent time management and organization skills

• Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

Salary Range: $32.09 - $28.83, may vary based on experience and location.
