Job summary

Stellantis is seeking a Design Systems Engineer to coordinate technical aspects of base engine design, ensuring customer requirements, functional objectives and quality targets are met. The role includes leading global teams, guiding release engineers, and driving cost-reduction initiatives across assemblies and components.

The position requires a BS in engineering, 8+ years in propulsion, and strong communication skills for executive leadership. Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • Minimum eight years of propulsion system related engineering and/or calibration experience.
  • Understanding of phased gated launch processes for product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to executive leadership and manage cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate technical inputs for engine program and present to executive leadership.
  • Approve technical decisions, timing plans, change notifications, bulletins, engine buildbooks and service manuals.
  • Plan and execute complete engine mechanical development/validation for all project phases.
  • Serve as key contact for all engine-related issues on assigned projects.
  • Lead global cross-functional teams through root cause analysis and robust solutions.
  • Lead Release Engineers and designers to meet program objectives for assemblies and components.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives including supplier resourcing risk assessments.
  • Ensure adherence to all project commitments.

Job description

TheDesign SystemsEngineer (DSE) - Enginesis responsible forcoordinating thetechnical aspects of base engine design to achieve customer requirements, functionalobjectivesand quality targets.Scopeof work includes base engine design andvalidation.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Key contributor for execution and compliance to the Stellantis Propulsion System Development Process (PDSP) for an assigned engine program with responsibility to summarize all technical inputs for recommendation and presentation to executive leadership
  • Critical approver for all technical decisions, timing plans, change notifications (CN’s), bulletins, engine buildbooksand service manuals
  • Responsible for approval and execution of complete engine mechanical development/validation plan for all project phases
  • Key point of contact within company for all engine related issues for assigned projects
  • Lead global cross functional teams from various department withexpertisein various technical domains thru root cause analysis of issues and implementation of robust solutions
  • Lead Release Engineers (DRE's) and designers within the engine team in meeting programobjectivesfor assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components with respect to cost, weight, performance, quality, manufacturing, timing, etc.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives including supplier resourcing risk assessments.
  • Accountable to ensure adherence for successfully achieving all project commitment
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related degree field
  • Minimumeight years of propulsion system related engineering and/or calibration experience
  • Understanding of phased gated launch processes for product development
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to and prepare presentations for executive leadership
  • Strong cross functional team management skills along with superior written and oral skills
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, self-directed, andhave the ability tomanage multiple complex assignments simultaneously
