Job summary

Blacksmith Agency seeks a Design Systems Designer to own how client design systems are built. You extract patterns from brands and reference sites into a working system: tokens, variables, modes, and core components a build pipeline can execute with minimal guidance.

You will work across multiple client brands, shipping robust component libraries and documenting the system so developers or automated pipelines can run it reliably. Strong English and overlap with US business hours are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design system work in portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants.
• A portfolio showing client-differentiated work with the same underlying rigor.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.
