Job summary

PGH Wong Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Design Support During Construction (DSDC) Manager to lead design support activities during construction on major transportation and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with large public works and underground rail transit projects, including familiarity with bored tunnel lining and support-of-excavation design. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for coordinating engineers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in structural/geotechnical engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years experience on large public works through design and construction.
• Experience with underground rail transit projects preferred.
• Familiarity with bored tunnel lining and support-of-excavation design.
• Experience with Progressive Design-Build and Target Price contracts preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead DSDC teams of project engineers and Subject Matter Experts providing design and construction submittal reviews.
• Coordinate engineering input from multidisciplinary teams, including civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, and rail systems engineers.
• Serve as a primary point of contact with clients, program and construction management teams, contractors, and other project stakeholders on matters related to DSDC services.
• Coordinate design support activities and facilitate resolution of design and construction-related issues.Keep project and company management informed of key issues and potential risks associated with DSDC services.
• Support effective communication and coordination among design, construction, and project teams.

The DSDC Manager will lead design support activities during construction and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the construction phase. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with large public works and underground rail transit projects, including familiarity with bored tunnel lining and support-of-excavation design.

• Experience with alternative project delivery methods, such as Progressive Design-Build and Target Price contracts, preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
