Restaurant Associates in New York City seeks a Director of Design & Style to shape and elevate the visual expression of our dining, hospitality and retail experiences. You will translate culinary concepts into cohesive environments and collaborate across Culinary, Marketing, Operations and Design & Construction to bring concepts to life.

The ideal candidate will be a tastemaker with a strong eye for detail and a portfolio proving a compelling design point of view.

Qualifications

• Strong background in interior, hospitality or retail design with concept-to-execution experience.
• Exceptional visual sensibility with mastery of color, material, proportion and texture.
• Portfolio demonstrating a strong visual point of view and relevant design work required.
• Ability to read and respond to architectural plans and design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead visual development of new and evolving concepts from mood boards to final styling.
• Translate brand and culinary strategies into a cohesive visual language and set-ups for new units, refreshes and renovations.
• Identify trends in hospitality, retail, fashion and interiors and translate ideas into fresh business approaches.
• Shape environments from planning through opening, including mock-ups, installations and openings to carry design intent through execution.
• Lead selection of tabletop, china, glassware, flatware, display pieces and develop uniform programs balancing aesthetics with cost and operational needs.
• Develop merchandising standards for cafés, markets and grab-and-go displays to support navigation, storytelling and sales.
• Collaborate with Culinary on food presentation, Marketing and Creative on brand storytelling, and Operations to keep concepts practical and executable.
• Coordinate with vendor partners on sourcing, logistics and deliveries, and present concepts to leadership and clients with clarity and confidence.
