ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, is expanding our Electric Projects & Programs team in the Greater Chicago area. We’re seeking a Design Specialist to support overhead and underground distribution design projects, transforming concepts into construction-ready packages in collaboration with engineers and field teams.

You’ll conduct field visits, prepare layouts and drawings, manage permits, and travel up to 20% to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting electric distribution design, drafting, or CAD-based design work.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, O-Calc, and/or SPIDACalc (or similar design tools).
• Experience working with GIS or mapping systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% for fieldwork and client coordination.

Responsibilities

• Support overhead and underground electric distribution design projects for our client.

We’re growing our Electric Projects & Programs team and are looking for a Design Specialist to support our work with a major utility in the Greater Chicago area.

What You’ll Do

As a Design Specialist, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting electric distribution design projects from early planning through construction. You’ll work closely with engineers, project teams, and our utility client to help deliver safe and reliable solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Support overhead and underground electric distribution design projects for our client
• Use design tools and software to develop layouts, drawings, and construction-ready packages
• Assist with creating and maintaining plans, specifications, reports, diagrams, and engineering documentation
• Coordinate and manage permit submittals , ensuring compliance with local requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams, field personnel, and client representatives to ensure project success

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting electric distribution design , drafting, or CAD-based design work

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, drafting/design, or a related field
• Additional certifications or technical training related to utility or infrastructure design
• Experience working with electric utilities or supporting client-driven projects
• Distribution Design Studio (DDS)

The base salary for this position ranges from $52,000 to $72,000 annually. The specific amount within this range will be influenced by the work location and various factors, such as internal equity, professional skills, work experience, and pertinent education or training.
