Job summary

Aalberts IPSA in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Design Services Manager to lead piping layout, isometrics, and BOM preparation with expert use of Auto Plant or similar software. You will review drawings, coordinate material handling, and support Apollo and BEP transitions across project teams.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, strong project management, BIM/AutoCAD experience, and travel readiness to meet client needs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare piping layout drawings, isometrics, spool sheets with BOMs using design software.
• Check drawings and BOMs for accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct project reviews, kick-off meetings, and maintain customer contact.
• Coordinate material handling from manufacturing to installation.
• Prepare BEP and transfer projects to Apollo design team.
• Prepare Advanced BOMs and assist with material delivery changes.
• Assist sales with drawing quotes and APDS estimating/engineering needs.
• Travel to job sites for field measurements and customer interaction.
• Train draftspersons and interns, and perform additional duties as assigned.

As a full-time Design Services Manager at Aalberts IPSA, located in Charlotte, NC, you will support clients to design IPSA brand products and services that meet their desired need. This role plays a key part in supporting clients growing needs leveraging innovation and creativity.

• Prepare piping layout drawings, isometric drawings, spool sheet drawings/cut sheets with complete BOM’s (bill-of-materials), pad and equipment drawings from customer furnished drawings and vendor data in Auto Plant (or other) design modelling software as required.
• Perform checking functions of drawings and bill of materials (plans & sections, isometrics, spool sheets, B.O.M.'s) produced both in-house and by the design team at Apollo.
• Conduct project review, kick-off meetings, maintain customer contact, and other job control functions.
• Coordinate complete project material handling from manufacturing to installation (i.e. bagging & tagging / expediting, fabrication of combination Apollo and welded spools, field logistics, etc.).
• Prepare and coordinate complete BEP (Basic Engineering Package), adhering to established guidelines, for transferring project to Apollo design team.
• Prepare Advanced Bill of Materials and assist the customer service department regarding their content and/or changes to material delivery requirements.
• Assist sales and with presentation of APDS drawing quotes (as required).
• Assist APDS estimating, specification, and software development departments (as required).
• Travel to jobsites to obtain accurate field measurements and interact with customers and Apollo salespeople as required.
• Assist in the training of draftspersons, draftsperson trainees, and interns.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by your manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to interface with all levels of management within the company and clients.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, and (BIM) Building Information Modelling.
• Be able to travel domestically and internationally.
• Must have project management skills (i.e. scheduling, budgeting, expediting, material coordination, information organization, customer interface, preparation of drawing issues to customer, etc.).
• Knowledge of piping specification engineering and pipe support experience.
• English language proficiency of at least B1 level where clear communication and basic problem-solving skills are essential.
