Job summary

Builders FirstSource, Inc. is seeking a design and sales professional to coordinate and create kitchen, bath, and millwork design projects. You will evaluate project scope, integrate information into layouts, and resolve issues for professional customers.

You will design layouts, prepare cost estimates, and manage orders from procurement to invoicing while collaborating with marketing and field teams to drive sales and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years drafting, architectural design or CAD application experience; or equivalent experience and education.
• Strong communication and customer service skills; ability to manage design projects and coordinate with clients.
• Proficiency in CAD applications, AutoCAD and drafting standards.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Actively engages in selling company products and services and consults with customers on project requirements.
• Designs plan layouts using blueprints or sketches and coordinates specialty orders.
• Coordinates procurement of materials, freight, delivery, and invoicing for projects.
• Works with marketing on merchandising programs and analyzes market trends for growth.
• Makes field sales calls, measures projects, and provides exceptional customer service.
• Prepares weekly project management reports for store and regional leadership.

PURPOSE

Under general supervision serves as the professional point of contact for specialty product customers by working with clients to coordinate and create design projects including Kitchen and Bath, Millwork, etc., renovations and remodels by evaluating scope of projects, integrating information into design layout and resolving issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actively engages in selling company products and services. Consults with customers to determine project requirements by preparing information regarding design, specifications, materials, and estimated costs.
• Designs plan layout as requested by customer, utilizing blueprints or sketches.
• May initiate and control specialty orders: purchases, coordinates freight, production, delivery and proper customer invoicing.
• Coordinates the purchase of needed materials and add-on sales.
• Works with marketing department on implementation of marketing and merchandising programs.
• Monitors all available market sources for leads and building trends to insure maximum market share.
• Makes sales calls in the field to measure, sell, follow-up, etc. as part of providing exceptional customer service.
• Works with purchasing department and/or appropriate buyers on special orders including creation of purchase orders.
• Prepares and provides project management reports on a weekly basis for store, regional and corporate management.
• May conduct in-store workshops and seminars.
• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
• Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years drafting, architectural design or CAD application experience; or equivalent experience and education

COMPETENCIES

• Ability to think strategically, forecast and drive sales
• Excellent customer service skills, sales experience in design/project development
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use knowledge of drafting, architectural design or CAD applications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program
