Job summary

Harbinger in California is seeking an Engineer, Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) Design to design, develop, and validate wiring harnesses and distribution systems for our next-generation EV platforms.

You will create 2D/3D designs, maintain schematics and BOMs, and ensure compliance with industry standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate EDS components across the vehicle. 3+ years of automotive EDS experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in EDS design for automotive or related industries.
• Proficiency with EDS design tools: CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, Zuken.
• Knowledge of automotive wiring harness architecture and connectors.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop vehicle electrical wiring harnesses, connectors, and distribution systems.
• Create 2D/3D EDS designs using CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent software.
• Maintain wiring schematics, routing layouts, BOMs.
• Ensure compliance with ISO SAE electrical standards and safety.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and mechanical teams for system integration.
• Perform tolerance analyses and feasibility studies.
• Lead validation and testing of electrical systems (DV/PV).
• Interface with suppliers for timely component delivery.

The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Engineer, Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) Design to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and validating electrical wiring harnesses and distribution systems for our advanced vehicle platforms. This position requires a strong technical background in EDS design, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to bring our next-generation electric vehicles to life.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop vehicle electrical wiring harnesses, connectors, and distribution systems to meet system requirements and industry standards.

• Create detailed 2D and 3D EDS designs using tools like CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent software.

• Develop and maintain wiring schematics, routing layouts, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).

• Ensure compliance with electrical standards (e.g., ISO, SAE) and safety regulations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineering, to seamlessly integrate EDS components.

• Perform tolerance analysis, routing feasibility studies, and virtual/physical mockups.

• Lead the validation and testing of electrical systems, including DV/PV testing and troubleshooting.

• Interface with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and adherence to specifications.

• Support manufacturing and service teams in the build process and field issue resolution.

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in EDS design for the automotive or related industries.

• Core Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in EDS design tools such as CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or Zuken.

  • Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring harness architecture, and connector technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems.

• Systems & Protocols: Familiarity with CAN/LIN communication protocols and diagnostic tools.

• Quality & Safety: Working knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, and functional safety standards (ISO 26262).

• Professional Traits:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, startup environment.
