Job summary

Slate is seeking a Design Release Engineer to lead steering wheel and frontal airbag development, coordinating with Tier 1 suppliers and internal teams. You will drive functional and technical requirements, ensure compliance with safety standards, and oversee release and certification activities across the program.

The role requires 8+ years in DRE for airbags/steering wheels, strong leadership, and familiarity with NHTSA/FMVSS, NCAP and IIHS crash requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent; ABET preferred.
8+ years of Design Release Engineering experience in airbags/steering wheels.
Experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, NCAP, and IIHS crash requirements.
Ability to lead teams and manage Tier 1 suppliers.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering and Tier 1 suppliers for steering wheel, driver airbag and passenger airbag.
Develop functional and technical requirements for systems and components in collaboration with internal teams.
Lead design, development, release and certification using CAE, CAD, BOM, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs and testing procedures.
