Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a quality engineer to champion producibility, inspectability, and reliability from early R&D through production across aerospace hardware. The role collaborates with design, manufacturing, and systems teams to embed quality in every phase and to develop robust inspection plans and quality documentation.

You will lead FMEA activities, apply DFMI principles to reduce risks, participate in design reviews, and ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO9001 standards while supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of quality engineering experience in aerospace/defense or regulated industries.
• Experience performing GD&T reviews (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience developing Inspection Plans and FMEAs for hardware.
• Familiarity with DFMI principles in design phases.
• Experience with formal design reviews (PDR/CDR) in a quality role.
• Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering drawings for completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability with GD&T and material callouts.
• Provide quality input during design reviews (PDR, CDR) to improve producibility and reliability.
• Embed quality early in R&D and support transition from development to production.
• Develop and maintain Inspection Plans aligned with design intent and risk.
• Lead FMEA activities with cross-functional teams to mitigate risk.
• Apply DFMI to influence design decisions and reduce defect risk.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, systems engineering to embed quality requirements.
• Support development and review of quality plans, criteria, and test requirements.
• Identify design-related quality risks and drive corrective actions using 8D/root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to quality standards and continuous process improvement across units.
• Review ECOs for quality impact and maintain program traceability and audits.
