Design Project Manager (DPM) provides overall management of one or more specific engineering & design efforts to ensure the client receives a project designed and engineered within the contract scope. The DPM coordinates with project management and construction leadership to ensure constructability and support of construction operations. The DPM is responsible for the successful delivery of the engineering scope of work on a project, within contract terms, on time, and within budget. On engineering-only projects the DPM functions as the primary leader of the project; on design-build projects the DPM acts as the primary leader of the engineering effort, typically working under a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.
Begins to work independently performing a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard project management techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project. The incumbent must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard project management techniques, procedures, and criteria focusing on scope, schedule, and budget. Assignments have clear objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables.
