Job summary

HKS, Inc. is seeking an architectural/engineering professional to support LINE Facade Studio.

The role focuses on leading-edge facade and enclosure elements with independent work under guidance, contributing to design, engineering and analysis tasks for multiple projects. You will collaborate with project teams on design resolution, perform routine analyses, assist client presentations, and participate in site visits while developing expertise in sustainable, code-conscious design.

Qualifications

  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • Actively pursuing Architectural or Engineering Registration.
  • Typically 3–5 years of experience.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Knowledge of scripting and parametric modeling tools (Grasshopper, Dynamo, Python, C#).
  • Familiarity with thermal, lighting and daylighting analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Modifies or creates enclosure sketches, BIM models, narratives, specs and reports under supervision.
  • Collaborates with project leaders on design and technical resolution of a defined portion of a project.
  • Performs routine architectural, engineering, and energy analysis tasks with the team.
  • Assists in preparing client presentations and communicates design intent.
  • Performs product research and enclosure material system studies.
  • Communicates with disciplines, vendors and contractors to incorporate information.
  • Provides guidance to entry-level staff as appropriate.
  • May support code requirements and engineering standards research.
  • Attends on-site visits, field reviews, client meetings, or project meetings and documents observations.
  • Assists in preparing proposals, schedules, samples, or models.
  • May participate in site or factory inspection, audits, or test oversight.

Job description

Overview:

Supports the LINE Facade Studio while working independently with guidance, focused exclusively on leading-edge facade and enclosure elements. Contributes and assists in design, engineering, and analysis tasks to advance respective projects. Anticipates job expectations; eager to learn and innovate both standard and emerging techniques or knowledge. Creative, open-minded, embodies professionalism and accountability, provides and receives rational feedback, uses respectful language, and is ready to surmount conventional thinking.

Responsibilities:
  • Modifies or creates enclosure sketches, drafted details, 3d models, BIM models, narratives,specifications, reports, and other documentation applying standard architectural and engineeringtechniques and according to written and verbal direction with general supervision
  • Collaborates with project or team leaders on design and technical resolution of projectimplementation for a defined portion of a project
  • Performs routine architectural, engineering, and/or energy analysis tasks, including designresponsibilities in collaboration with other team members
  • Assists in preparing client presentations and presents project design intent or analysisresults
  • Performs product research; assists with enclosure material selection and systemresearch
  • Communicates with other disciplines, vendors and contractors to incorporate information intodesign, project requirements, and documents as needed
  • Provides guidance and direction to entry-level staff as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Typically with 3-5 years of experience
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred
  • Knowledge of scripting and parametric modeling software such as Grasshopper, Ladybug Tools,Dynamo, Python, C# preferred
  • Awareness of structural analysis software such as Strand, Solidworks, SJ Mepla, Ansys Mechpreferred
  • Proficiency with thermal engineering software such as LBNL Window, LBNL Therm, LBNL Optics,WUFI, WUFI Mould Index VTT
  • Proficiency with optical, lighting, and daylighting design software such as RADIANCE, ClimateStudio, EVALGLARE, Acelerad, Ladybug Tools, ALFA, LARK preferred
  • Proficiency with architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and 3D modelingpreferred
  • Experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup and InDesign graphic softwarepreferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
  • Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
  • Knowledge of QA/QC process and building codes
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and inwriting
  • Ability to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutions
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
  • Travel may be required.
