Job summary

HMC Architects in Sacramento, CA seeks a Design Principal (Interiors) to lead design process across complex interior projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams and strengthening client relationships.

The role requires an accredited architecture degree and licensure, 12+ years of experience, and a track record delivering healthcare, education, or civic work. On-site three days a week, with remote Mondays and Fridays.

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in Architecture and licensure required.
• 12+ years of architectural experience with leadership across all phases.
• Experience delivering healthcare, education, or civic projects.
• Strong knowledge of DSA, HCAI/OSHPD, or similar regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and lead pursuits.
• On-site at HMC studio a minimum of three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Lead design process across multiple projects and phases.
• Champion design excellence and ensure alignment with firm standards.
• Direct and mentor project teams to foster collaboration and growth.
• Partner with studio leaders to allocate resources and support execution.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and prospects.
• Identify and pursue new project opportunities aligned with goals.
• Support revenue growth through client engagement and BD efforts.
• Represent the firm at industry events and in proposals.
