Job summary

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Design Manager / Senior Engineer with power generation experience for a hybrid role based in one of our offices: Chicago, IL; Des Moines, IA; or Muscatine, IA.

You will lead the design team, oversee the technical design process, and ensure cross-discipline communications while coordinating schedules and the quality control plan. The PM team will rely on you to address design issues and engage on change management with clients.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited four-year engineering degree in a related discipline.
• 15+ years of relevant power generation design experience.
• Possess or be able to obtain a Professional Engineer license within 1 year.
• Experience in natural gas power generation.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

What You Will Be Doing

• Managing the day-to-day activities of the design team, including overseeing the technical portion of the design process, ensuring cross‑discipline communications, coordinating schedules and the quality control plan.
• Supporting the Project Manager by communicating design team and technical issues, assisting with client engagement on change management requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited four‑year college (mechanical, control systems, electrical, structural, or related disciplines).
• 15+ years of relevant power generation design experience.
• Possess or able to obtain a Professional Engineer license within 1 year.
• Experience in natural gas power generation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing reciprocating engine, simple cycle, combined cycle, and/or combined heat and power plants.
• Experience with alternative project delivery vehicles such as design‑build, EPC, P3, or integrated project delivery.

Salary

$139,500 – $185,550 per year (Illinois location).
