Clopay Corporation seeks a Design Engineering Supervisor for our Mountaintop Facility to lead a team of design engineers, guide technical execution, and ensure quality, cost, and safety compliance across projects.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, Inventor proficiency, and a track record of leading design efforts from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or related field with extensive experience.
• Experience as design supervisor or lead role in engineering projects.
• Proficient with Inventor and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise design engineers on-site and remotely.
• Provide engineering support to customers with Sales/Tech Support.
• Handle special requests beyond standard engineering scope.
• Troubleshoot and support field installations.
• Maintain engineering standards and ECO-driven drawings.
• Collaborate on design for manufacturing and new product launches.
• Lead design reviews and manage projects solo or with others.

We currently have an opening for a Design Engineering Supervisor at our Mountaintop Facility.

Purpose: to lead a team of design staff, guide technical execution, and ensure project plans, products, or systems meet quality, budget and safety standards

Responsibilities/Principal Duties:

• Supervise team of design engineers both on-site and in remote locations.
• Provide support for external customers in combination with the Sales and Technical Support Departments.
• Complete Special Requests for jobs that cannot be processed within the scope of engineering standards and system programs.
• Provide troubleshooting and installation support for customers and units in the field.
• Maintain engineering standards and drawings through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Complete line extensions to expand product offering.
• Work with Production and Strategic Manufacturing on Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Work with Strategic Marketing and Marketing to effectively launch new product offerings.
• Use parametric CAD (Inventor) to create 3D models of parts and assemblies using a variety of manufacturing materials & processes including sheet metal, structural steel, welding, casting, and roll forming.
• Perform various analysis on parts and systems for compliance to various codes including ASCE, AISC, IBC, and ACI.
• Identify and implement cost reductions and product improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and brainstorming activities with other design engineers.
• Run and manage projects individually or in collaboration with other design engineers.

Job Requirements:

• Associates (minimum 15 years of experience) or Bachelor’s (minimum 10 years of experience) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or other similar degree program
• Proficient in AutoDesk Inventor or similar 3D parametric modeling software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite
• High Mechanical Aptitude
• Working knowledge of hand tools and basic shop tools
• EIT or PE preferred.
• Working knowledge of motors and electrical control equipment preferred.
