Job summary

Hendrick Motorsports in Charlotte, NC seeks a highly motivated Design Engineering Intern for a 6-9 month assignment starting Spring 2027. The intern will assist with design, testing, and documentation of automotive components, and support shop activities while gaining hands-on experience in CAD, drafting, and PLM systems.

Ideal candidates are full-time engineering students with relevant coursework, a strong GPA, and the ability to read blueprints and communicate technical information

Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a four-year engineering degree.
• Minimum GPA of 2.8/4.0 or 3.0/4.0 depending on area.
• Completed 30 semester hours prior to start of internship.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Confer with engineers to implement procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
• Specify system components or direct modification to meet design and performance specs.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products and processes.
• Investigate equipment failures to diagnose faults and make maintenance recommendations.
• Assist drafters in developing structural design using CAD and drafting software.
• Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure specifications are met.
• Conduct research testing the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
