Job summary

Qualifications

Position Title: Design Engineer, Solid Rocket Motor (SRM)

Job Overview

X-Bow Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer to support engineering efforts on Solid Rocket Systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SRM design, preliminary analysis, general understanding of manufacturing order of operations, BOM structure, required design testing, ASME Y14.100 and GD&T, with a focus on continuous improvement, safety strategies, and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record showcasing their ability to manage complex engineering problems across one or more projects.

  • Work with diverse teams to digest complex customer requirements.
  • Work with Chief Engineers to mature preliminary SRM concept designs.
  • Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing techniques for agile design.
  • Perform Trade Studies and weigh down-select options.
  • Organize and track Mass Growth Allowance (MGA)
  • Document design processes, results, and findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of manufacturing work instructions, testing procedures and safety protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in solid propulsion technologies.
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of relevant SRM design experience, preliminary analysis, and testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated excellence in mechanical design using CATIA, Fusion 360, PTC Creo, SolidWorks (Preferred), NX or similar.
  • Thorough understanding of ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5
  • Familiarity with propulsion system integration and optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety in all stages of design and testing.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Must be a US Persons as defined by § 120.62 of the ITAR
