Job summary

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) is seeking a Design Engineer to work on municipal infrastructure projects including streets, water systems, and utilities. You will develop engineering solutions and deliver design deliverables using BIM/CAD tools, hand calculations, and computer-based methods.

Responsibilities include design, coordination, and construction administration tasks, with emphasis on meeting PEC standards, timely delivery, and clear communication within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Engineers in Training certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering design and coordinates with other design staff for construction documents and specifications per codes and PEC standards.
• Reviews submittals, site investigations, and RFIs during construction administration.
• Performs design and takeoff computations by hand and with computer software.
• Organizes multiple projects and tasks to meet PEC standards and schedules.
• Communicates with the design team to complete design tasks on various projects.

Job description

Do you enjoy developing infrastructure projects that directly impact communities? This role is for you! You will work on municipal projects such as streets, intersections, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater drainage, public utilities, and other community infrastructure improvements.

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will be responsible for design on multiple projects, working with other design disciplines internal and external to PEC to develop engineering solutions for PEC’s Clients. This position will be responsible for preparing design deliverables for a variety of projects while maintaining PEC’s standard of excellence. This position utilizes BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs engineering design, coordinates with other design staff for construction document and specification production in compliance with building codes, construction administration, and development of reports/studies.
• Performs tasks during construction administration including review of submittals, site investigations, and RFI response under the direction of the Project Engineer.
• Performs design and takeoff computations by hand and by computer software.
• Organizes multiple projects and tasks and completes them in a timely manner, on schedule, and per PEC Standards.
• Organize project information and files according to corporate standard practices and workflows.
• Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Design Team to complete design tasks on numerous projects.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degreein an appropriate field of study from an ABET Accredited University is required.

License and Certification:

• Engineer in Training Certification preferred

At times, bending, reaching, standing, and walking may be required.
