Job summary

Scale Search Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop complex designs for projects in conformance with standards. The role requires strong design capabilities, knowledge of mechanical systems, and experience with CAD systems, preferably CATIA.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 3-5 years of relevant experience, and must demonstrate their mechanical design skills. Responsibilities include developing new designs and assisting various functional organizations throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Experience in engineering and designing custom machines.
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI Y14.5.

Ingersoll is a leading supplier of Machines for Composite Components for the Aerospace and Wind Industry and large Metal Cutting Machines for the Manufacturing Industry. The company is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer that will contribute to meet the expanded demand by the customers using the already developed standard modules and create new modules when this will be required.

Position Description

This Engineering position is responsible for developing complex designs in conformance with Ingersoll design standards and customer or marketing specifications. Responsibilities include participation in the development of engineering standards, design specifications for marketing activities and complex project design assignments. Communications with customers and functional organizations within the company is an important aspect of this position. Engineers in this position must have strong design capabilities coupled with an ability to achieve schedule, budget and quality objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop new designs to meet customer or marketing specifications.
  • Works with supervision to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Documents designs using the appropriate format to Ingersoll and/or customer standards.
  • Provides assistance to other functional organizations; manufacturing, assembly, customer service, through the life of the project.
  • May have responsibility for testing and validation of design.
  • Develop specifications for purchased equipment.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials and ENOC’s.
  • Maintains technical competency and works to expand technical skills and knowledge.
  • Approve detailed drawings produced by peers.
  • Some travel is required for this position.
Qualifications
Core Competencies Required
  • Must have strong mechanical design skills with an ability to read and layout mechanical drawings.
  • A broad knowledge of mechanical systems is a must.
  • Must have a good understanding of basic machine tool design.
  • Experience drawing complex mechanical assemblies strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CAD systems is required with knowledge of 3D Solid Modeling desired; CATIA experience preferred.
  • Must be familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI Y14.5.
  • Should have strong mathematical skills, including at a minimum, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus/analytic geometry.
  • A general understanding of Finite Element Analysis techniques is desirable.
  • A general knowledge of Ingersoll’s CAE tools is desirable.
Education
  • A Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Mechanical Engineering field or by a reputable Engineering College is a must.
Experience
  • Three to five years’ relevant experience in mechanical design engineering required.
Additional Information

Only those individuals with the above qualifications and experience will be considered. Experience in engineering and designing custom machines is required.
