Job summary

Acuity Inc. is seeking a Product Development Engineer to drive concept-to-production of electro-mechanical products. You will lead design, prototyping, testing, and documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering and manufacturing.

The role emphasizes part geometry, assemblies, and detailed drawings, with an emphasis on cost reduction and manufacturability. Travel up to 20% is possible, and a Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • 0–2 years of applicable engineering experience.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge and tools (Standard Work, Time Studies, 5 Whys, DMAIC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to work cross-functionally.
  • Understand manufacturing methods (stamping, drawing, casting, extrusion).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design process from concept to production.
  • Develop part geometry, assembly design, and drawing generation for new products and cost-reduction.
  • Create and distribute engineering documentation (ECNs, BOMs).
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to resolve part or assembly issues and BOM errors.
  • Lead Stage-Gate development meetings for major product launches.
  • Support process improvements and engineering research.
