Job summary

MiTek Industries invites motivated engineering students to join a 12-week paid internship from May 17 to August 6. You will work under a Manager and Mentor to tackle truss design, repairs, and innovative methods for metal plate connected wood trusses.

You’ll gain professional development, mentorship, and exposure to leadership while contributing to real-world building industry projects in a collaborative, inclusive hybrid setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
• Ownership of high-priority projects demonstrating problem solving and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide calculation-based improvements to existing engineering details.
• Research and test new methods for metal plate connected wood floor trusses.
• Design field repairs for truss components in accordance with engineering principles.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and building officials on projects.
• Review results from truss design software for accuracy and advise on software behavior.

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsA Brief OverviewDesigns truss components and truss repairs for MiTek customers and creatively solve engineering issues our customers have. Expand upon existing standard details by providing calculation-based improvements and verified by physical testing if required. Research and test innovative new ways of using metal plate connected wood floor and/or roof trusses. This position reports to the Engineering Manager located in the office where the engineer is assigned.MiTek's Internship Program offers a paid, 12-week from May 17th to August 6th full-time experience designed for students nearing completion of their degree. Interns are paired with a Manager and Mentor to work on impactful projects and present final outcomes at the end of the program.
