Job summary

Vermeer is seeking a Design Engineer Intern to design, document, build and test new solutions across assigned industry. The role supports design in production, sales, service, and troubleshooting, providing realistic recommendations to meet design goals and customer needs.

The position emphasizes collaboration with technicians, use of SolidWorks, BOM development, and analysis of loading conditions to ensure robust, manufacturable designs. Onsite work with a first shift is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture or Electrical Engineering.
• Previous internship is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit Vermeer caring culture and customer focus while modeling expected behaviors.
• Design and detail purchased items, machining, weld and assembly prints using SolidWorks for manufacturability, cost effectiveness and safety.
• Assist Engineering Technicians with building and testing prototypes.
• Analyze production issues and assist with solutions.
• Calculate unknown loading and directions from data and assumptions.
• Develop bill of materials (BOM).
• Test design changes made by technicians.
