Nucor’s Kirby Building Systems invites curious and driven individuals to join as a Design Engineer Intern. This paid internship provides hands-on design engineering experience while immersing you in Nucor’s collaborative, innovative culture.

You will learn through guided projects in civil engineering within a premier steel and metal building systems manufacturer. You will gain exposure to load analysis, use proprietary design software, and contribute to design and fabrication processes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Strong verbal and written English communication.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on learning: support the role of a full-time design engineer on production-related projects.
• Load analysis: learn building loads and trace load paths through structures.
• Software training: operate our proprietary design software to execute design tasks.
• Design contribution: assist in developing structurally sound and economical components.
• Cross-functional collaboration: work with diverse teams to fabricate high-quality products.
