Qualifications

• Current junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with a water resources concentration.
• Strong technical and engineering design skills are required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD is expected.
• Understanding of local, Maine and federal permitting regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with CAD site design for projects.
• Perform stormwater inspections as part of project work.
• Support regulatory permitting tasks for projects.
• Assist in construction administration activities.
• Prepare Planning Board submissions and related documents.

Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture firm, has a seasonal, summer opportunity for a Design Engineer Intern in their Portland office.

Responsibilities include assisting with:

• CAD site design
• stormwater inspections
• regulatory permitting
• construction administration
• Planning Board submissions

Acorn’s current projects include:

• permitting for community solar farms
• floodplain and watershed restoration
• municipal parks including artwork installations
• urban infill developments
• affordable housing projects throughout the State

Acorn partners with high quality clientele and champions their projects from initial concept, through planning board approval to final completion. This is an exciting opportunity to assist a small (but growing) firm with a variety of tasks. Requirements

Capabilities and Credentials

• Current Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with a concentration on water resources
• Strong technical and engineering design skills
• Proficiency in AutoCad Civil 3D & HydroCAD
• Understanding of Local, Maine and Federal permitting regulations and applications
• Understanding of stormwater treatment design
• Valid driver’s license required
