Job summary

BARNHART CRANE & RIGGING is seeking a Design Engineer II in Memphis, TN to design and develop custom rigging equipment and structural systems. You will work with engineers and field teams to create Fabrication drawings, perform load calculations, and produce robust design packages.

Qualified candidates have 2–5 years in structural/mechanical design, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/In ventor), and familiarity with OSHA/AISC/ASME standards. Some travel to job sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of design experience in structural or mechanical equipment.
• PE license is a plus; OSHA 10 certification recommended.
• Experience with steel construction, fabrication, and design standards.
• Proficiency in CAD/3D modeling and calculation software.
• Strong communication, team collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Ability to visit job sites and work in outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed design packages with drawings, specs, and test certificates.
• Perform steel design and structural analysis tasks.
• Develop 3D models and technical drawings for equipment assemblies.
• Prepare operating instructions and maintenance requirements.
• Provide on-site technical assistance during lifting operations.
• Coordinate with operators, riggers, engineers, and project managers.
• Manage schedules, estimate design costs, and track project progress.
• Ensure designs comply with AISC/ASME/OSHA standards.
