Job summary

Techtronic Cordless GP- TTIPE seeks a Design Engineer II for New Product Development Engineering (Outdoor Power Equipment) in Anderson, SC. You will contribute to product development from concept to production, owning design work and producing detailed CAD models and drawings.

  • Verification & Validation – contribute to DFMEA and design verification plans; analyze test results to refine designs.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – work with Product Management, Manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers.

Job Title: Design Engineer II – New Product Development Engineering (Outdoor Power Equipment) – Anderson, SC

Overview

Design Engineer II supports the design and development of outdoor power equipment (OPE) systems and components. Under guidance of senior engineers, this role contributes to product development from concept through production via detailed designs, prototype builds, testing, and validation.

Key Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Technical Design Ownership – Own the design and development of assigned components, sub‑assemblies, or systems from concept, layout, and detailed CAD to validation and production release; develop and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and specifications; analyze problems and provide design trade‑off analyses; apply structured problem‑solving methods to resolve design issues, field failures, and manufacturing concerns.
  • Design for Manufacturing, Cost, and Quality – Design components with manufacturability, assembly, quality, and cost in mind; work with manufacturing engineering, sourcing, quality, and suppliers to understand processes and constraints; support value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives; ensure designs meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and UL/ANSI/CSA/ISO expectations.
  • Verification & Validation – Provide DFMEA inputs, design risks, mitigation strategies; develop and execute design verification plans including tolerance validation, stress analysis, durability testing, environmental and abuse testing; use data‑driven test results to refine designs; support engineering change documentation and product release activities.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer requirements and objectives; support Manufacturing Engineering during pilot builds, PPAP, and ramp‑up by resolving build issues; communicate effectively with global cross‑functional teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of design experience in consumer, industrial, or electromechanical products (internship and co‑op experience considered).
  • Experience with 3D CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent).
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, results‑driven product development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with new product development and manufacturing.
  • Experience with injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, machining, or other manufacturing processes.
  • Hands‑on mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with prototype assembly and product testing.
Travel

Up to 25% travel (international and domestic).
