Sumitomo Drive Technologies in Texas is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design work on CYCLO products and related power transmission equipment, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

You will collaborate with designers, design supervisors, and vendors to develop detailed components, perform cost analyses, and support field sales with technical expertise. Requires 5 years of mechanical design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor and FEA.

• BS in mechanical engineering or design discipline or equivalent work experience
• Five (5) Years mechanical design experience
• Three (3) Years AutoCAD experience
• Three (3) Years Inventor experience
• Two (2) Years FEA experience

Purpose and Scope of Job:

Reports to manager of the Engineering Department. Responsible for all aspects of design. Particularly related to CYCLO products. Confer with Designers and Design Supervisor. Engaged in special features of helical, bevel/helical, planetary and CYCLO reducers and associated equipment such as baseplates, couplings etc. Requires in-depth knowledge of gear design, bearing section lubricating systems, gear case design (both cast and fabricated) and associated power transmission equipment.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

• Conceptual product development. Support Sumitomo field sales and customers directly y means of participation in sales calls, training and any other activity, which will successfully support the selling effort.
• Detailed design support of new product components and accessories in establishing standards and manuals for CYCLO products.
• Cost analysis of new product
• Action Plan & VOC analysis
• Interaction with Application Engineers
• Interaction with Vendor & Subsidiaries

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in mechanical engineering or design discipline or equivalent work experience and/or 2 Years Engineering Department experience
• Five (5) Years mechanical design experience
• Three (3) Years AutoCAD experience
• Three (3) Years Inventor experienceTwo (2) Years FEA experience
