Job summary

MiTek Industries in Missouri seeks a design engineer to create truss components and field repairs for our customers, applying engineering principles and building code knowledge. You will work with other engineers and staff to ensure safe, compliant solutions and support customers with design modifications and troubleshooting.

You will review truss design software outputs, discuss methodologies with customers, and collaborate across engineering, architecture, and building officials to deliver

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Civil/Structural or Mechanical preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and schematics.
  • Proficiency with algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, physics, statistics and strength of materials.
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety practices.
  • EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designs truss components and field repairs per customer specs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other teams to ensure safe designs.
  • Review design software results for accuracy.
  • Explain design changes to customers.
  • Assist and mentor customers in troubleshooting.

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsA Brief OverviewDesigns truss components and truss repairs for MiTek customers and creatively solve engineering issues our customers have.ResponsibilitiesCreatively design field repairs for truss components in accordance with acceptable engineering principles and judgment.Design truss components based on specified parameters from customers and use their knowledge of engineering and the building codes along with collaboration with other engineers in the office to ensure their designs protect the health safety and welfare of the public.Discusses design modifications and reviews appropriate design methodologies with customers.Assist, train and counsel customers in troubleshooting issues and design problems.Review results of the truss design software for accuracy and collaborate with other engineers and with the software development team to determine how the software should function.Collaborate with engineers, architects and building officials on customer component design projects.QualificationsBachelors Engineering required, preferably in Civil/Structural or Mechanical EngineeringEquivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basisAbility to perform technical skills including algebra, trigonometry geometry and basic calculus physics, statistics and strength of materials, structural analysis.Ability to read and understand prints and schematicsAble to use Microsoft Office ApplicationsEngineer-in-Training (EIT) - Any State Board preferredSoft SkillsAbility to perform work accurately and thoroughlyAbility to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of othersMust have solid engineering/technical skills, including attention to detailMust have an outstanding safety record and follow all safety policies and proceduresDemonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
